Currency
Hungarian Forint (HUF) is the official currency. Major credit cards are accepted by hotels, large shops and restaurants.
Hungary renews its banknotes so please be careful with the appearance of the notes.

Local time
The time in Hungary is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1 or UTC+1)
Weather
The weather will be sunny in August, expected temperature will be around, 25-35°C (day) and 15°C (night) so dress appropriately, calculating with heat and sun protection. Nights in August may be cold (down to 8-10°C). Students should prepare with warm clothes also.
Electricity
In Hungary the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. Check out the following pictures.
- Type C: also known as the standard “Euro” plug. This socket also works with plug E and plug F.
- Type F: also known as “Schuko”. This socket also works with plug C and plug E.
Water
All kinds of tapwater are drinkable. We suggest its consumption on warm summer days too.
Vaccination
There is no compulsory vaccination in Hungary. Please conclude your travel insurance with medical support included, because without this, the healthcare treatment will be invoiced by the Hungarian social insurance.
Language
The official language of Hungary is Hungarian while English is understood and spoken in major cities.
